Help! My Pinterest account has been suspended what should I do?
There’s no need to panic if your Pinterest account gets suspended. Instead of worrying about it too much, you need to calm yourself down and with a clear head figure out how to get it back.
The first thing you need to do is visit the Pinterest Help Center and search for the word ‘suspended’. This will give you a list of results. I have written more about the Help Center in my post 20 Pinterest Tips and Tricks You Might Not Have Discovered.
Read through all of them, especially the content policies. Check if you have violated anything that could have resulted in your Pinterest account being suspended. If you feel that you haven’t violated any of them or if you are unsure about what you have done wrong then it is time to contact Pinterest.
The first thing you need to do is visit the contact page.
First add the ‘Title’ (you could use something like ‘Suspended Pinterest Account’ or ‘My Pinterest Account has Been Suspended’ in it), follow that up with a good message in the ‘Description’ field. Let them know that your account has been suspended and that you would like it to be reactivated. Also be sure to ask them as to why it has been suspended.
If you have a relevant screenshot you can attach it too. And then fill in all the other details and hit ‘Submit’. Now you will need to be patient and wait for their response. The people at Pinterest are very helpful and they do get back to you.
If they find that you haven’t violated anything they will reactivate your suspended Pinterest account. For example, the Pinterest account of a friend of mine got suspended as it received too many flags. But when Pinterest took a close look at it, they realized that she hadn’t violated anything. So they just reactivated it. Getting flags might not be your fault as people might press the flag button by mistake or it could just be someone trying to trouble you. So if you have been following the content policies you shouldn’t have anything to worry about.
If Pinterest gets back to you to let you know about the terms you have violated that triggered your Pinterest account suspension, make sure you get back to them and apologize and inform them that you will never repeat it again. Hopefully they will restore it for you. Don’t be mean or throw tantrums at them. Remember that they are trying to help you.
How to prevent your Pinterest account from being suspended
Instead of waiting for your account to get suspended and then take action to get it back, the best thing to do is to prevent it from being suspended in the first place. Read the tips below to save yourself from the trouble and time required to reactivate a suspended Pinterest account…
1. Read the content policies: Pinterest takes their content policies very seriously. Make sure that you read through them and avoid pinning things they don’t want you to.
2. Avoid spam: Spam is a huge problem on Pinterest, especially on group boards. So do everything you can to steer clear of it. Check everything you repin to ensure that the pin goes exactly where it says it does. If you run a group board make sure that you delete spam and get rid of the spammers who pin them. And when you contribute to a group board avoid spamming it. Always stick to pinning images that are relevant to the group board topic.
3. Convert to a business account: One reason why a personal Pinterest account might get suspended is because it might have been used for commercial purposes.
If you want to use Pinterest for business, you need to convert it into a business account by visiting this page. You can learn how to convert your account by reading the post 6 Ways Businesses Can Make the Most of the Latest Pinterest Updates. After you do that, using your Pinterest account for business shouldn’t be a problem.
Following the above tips will lower the chances of your Pinterest account being suspended and you can continue using it worry free.
