Would you like more retweets on Twitter? How about clicks – Would you like more people to click on the links you share?
One of the keys to thriving on Twitter is following the best practices, as these can get results. There are several studies that can help us with this. I have scoured the internet to look for 7 Twitter stats that can grow your presence. Make sure you read all Twitter stats and use them to get more retweets and clicks on your tweets…
Getting More Retweets
Getting more retweets can spread the word and improve your presence and influence. Below are a few Twitter stats that can be used to get more retweets…
1. Keep your tweets between the lengths of 71 and 100 Characters:
As you can see from the above graph from Quciksprout, tweets which are between the lengths of 71 and 100 characters, get the highest number of retweets. So keep your tweets between those lengths. This way when someone retweets and mentions your user name (@username) they will still be able to retweet your tweet. If the length is too close to the 140 character limit, they might not be able to do this. They will also be able to add a comment if they want to.
2. Tweet more links
According to the same infographic by Quicksprout, tweets with URLs get retweeted more often, so share more links in your tweets. These links could lead to articles, white papers, landing pages, reports, etc.
3. Use Bit.ly to shorten your links
According to the above graph by Dan Zarrella, tweets with links that were shortened using Bit.ly received the highest number of retweets. They get 9.28% more retweets. So don’t just tweet links, tweet links shortened using bit.ly.
4. Tweet between noon and 2 PM
To get the maximum number of retweets, we need to tweet between noon and 2 PM. So schedule your most important tweets to go out at those times.
Increase Click Through Rate on the Links in Your Tweets
Getting more people to click on the links in your tweets, will increase traffic and drive sales. Here are a few Twitter stats to help you achieve this…
5. Tweet between 1 and 3 PM
Timing doesn’t just apply to getting more retweets, it also applies to getting more clicks on the links in your tweets.
According to this study by Bit.ly and Raka Creative, the best time to tweet, in order to increase the click through rate (CTR) on your tweets, is between 1 and 3 PM. The CTR is also high from Monday to Thursday. Avoid tweeting important content after 8 PM from Monday to Thursday and after 3 PM on Friday.
So if you would like to get both, more retweets and more clicks on the links in your tweets tweet between 1 and 2 PM. As this is where both the studies mentioned in points four and five work together.
6. Tweet links at a slower pace
A study by Dan Zarrella, found that as the pace of link tweeting increased, the CTR went down. So if you would like more people to click on the links in your tweets, then tweet them at a slower pace. For e.g. if you tweet something at 11 AM you could wait two hours and tweet a link at 1 PM and then wait another couple of hours before tweeting again. This way the link you share at 1 PM will get maximum exposure, thereby helping it obtain more clicks.
7. Place your links earlier in the tweet
The above study also found that links placed about 25% of the way through the tweet, received the highest CTRs. So instead of placing the links right at the end, place them earlier in the tweet, to encourage more people to click on them.
Make use of all the above tips to get more people to retweet your tweets and to increase the CTRs of the links in your tweets.
