Being social is the key to being successful with social media. Just like the name social media suggests you need to be social in order to make sure it works properly for you and your company. It’s not just enough to write and share good content and promoting it through social media and SEO; you need to be social on social media.
Being social on social media, will help you reach your audience better than your competitors. It will help you build strong, powerful, relationships quickly and you can convert these long lasting, powerful relationships into leads.
So what is the key to being successful with social media?
Have a Profile Picture:
Whether you set up a profile on Linkedin, facebook, Twitter or Google Plus, you need to make sure you have a proper profile picture of you. If it’s a company profile ensure that you have a company logo. A profile without a face (logo or picture) is like a body without a head. It doesn’t give the profile a character and personality. Make sure you upload a clear picture of you smiling, which welcomes them.
Having a clear picture also makes it easy for people to recognize you. It’s also less likely that people will consider you as spam.
Use a Proper Name:
Use a proper name for your profile. This could be your name, your nick name or your company’s name which sounds real. When you use your favourite actor, or a celebrities name or a name which is littered with numbers it will confuse your friends and followers, as your name will not look or sound genuine and they might not follow you back. So make sure you use a proper name people know you by.
Ask questions:
You need to regularly ask your followers questions and when they answer these questions you need to respond to them. This could be thanking them for their response, or retweeting or liking their response. Once you respond to their questions you’re making a connection with these people. You never know how powerful this connection can be in the future.
Answer questions:
When you find interesting questions on social media, respond to them with an answer or a share or a like.
Share Images:
Share photos on our profile and make it available to the public and when they make comments on them respond to them. Photos of you with your family or at events with clients display your friendliness with the client. A photo can show clients that you’re a social person who sees to it that others are happy and people will always prefer working with someone who can make them happy too.
An e.g. of a good social media profile where lots of images are shared is the SEOmoz facebook page where all kinds of cheerful photos are shared on a regular basis.
Other tips:-
Address people by their names. People always have their names on their social media profiles and when you address them by their name you make a stronger impression than when you address them generally. It also shows them that you made an effort to find out more about them.
Wish and thank people all the time. When someone has helped you or answered one of your questions, always thank them. When you answer to a response always make sure you address them properly. This extra effort shows them that you have got good manners and are courteous.
If you follow the above tips and implement them in your social media marketing you should start seeing an improvement in your marketing and you should start developing better relationships with your readers.
